PRODUCTS DO NOT GROW YOUR HAIR.

More and more people are being drawn to natural hair and I love that. However, people really haven’t learnt a thing about hair care and healthy hair practices.

The popular question is “Your hair is so long, what products do you use?”

Half the time I don’t know how to answer that question because I do not have this MAGICAL product that everyone is expecting me to tell them about.

The other day I was checking the Zed hair request facebook page, Fatima had put up a picture of a girl with beautiful long natural hair and one of the comments was “I want that hair, what products does she use?”

There are so many people still thinking that in order to grow long hair, you need to use a certain product and they think you are hiding ‘the big secret’ whenever you tell them products do not grow your hair.

I am not against products, infact they are necessary for healthy hair but are only effective with the right techniques, in a nutshell healthy hair practices top it all. You can have all the best products in the world, but if you do not know how to handle your hair, it will not grow.

Stop focusing on new products and start paying attention to how well you treat your hair, it will thank you for it.

  1. This is the gospel that needs to be preached everywhere. Products (not even weed) can't grow your hair for you. Only good hair care practices :)

  2. Amen! You can have 100 of the best products, but not have your hair move a centimetre cause it is handled so badly. Seems you and I have the same mind, I just prepared a post on how handling hair can influence its health and length. Thank you for this!

  4. I get that more now that I opened the blof store. I explain to peoole to first learn how to actually take care of their hair and when thats in place, they can get back to me rather than buying a bunch of stuff in the hopes of growing long hair. What people need is a good regimen and techniques not a magical product. When fast growth is not seen, they end up thinking the treatments for instance dont work and give up on hair care altogether.
