I hope you are doing great and enjoying your hair journey thus far.
I often get asked about my natural hair care routine or regimen and how i wash my hair. This post is mainly about how i wash my hair or rather my wash day routine.
Firstly i should mention that i wash my hair once a week unless i am super busy then i wash once every 2 weeks. My routine may not work for you but i hope that it will help you come up with one that works for you.
On a particular wash day this is what i do:
- Spray my hair with water lightly
- separate hair into smaller sections.
- add conditioner to each section, detangle and loosely twist. Do the same to the rest of the hair
- after detangling i add my deep conditioner (DC).
- put plastic cap on and a head sock and let it sit for an hour or so.
- rinse the DC
- remove excess water using an old t-shirt.
- apply leave-in conditioner/coconut oil.
- seal with shea butter.
- braid/twist hair
- air dry
- style.
The DC i use depends on how my hair is feeling or what my hair needs. On a normal wash day i use a moisturising DC (tresseme naturals + oils) and sometimes i use a protein conditioner (eg hair mayonnaise) depending on how my hair feels.
I hope that was helpful. Thanks for stopping by.
