WHAT I AM LOVING: LUPITA NYONGO

Lupita looked flawless on the red carpet at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival La TĂȘte Haute premiere.

She was dressed in a jade Gucci chiffon plisse gown which she called 'Grasshopper green'. The actress paired her frock with Chopard diamond statement rings and drop earrings that frame her face, well, perfectly.
Her hair, mmmh her hair was PERFECT and i love it. She wore it in a bun which everyone is calling #fronut. Smh. hahaha.

WASH DAY ROUTINE 2015.

Hi ,
I hope you are doing great and enjoying your hair journey thus far.
I often get asked about my natural hair care routine or regimen and how i wash my hair. This post is mainly about how i wash my hair or rather my wash day routine.

Firstly i should mention that i wash my hair once a week unless i am super busy then i wash once every 2 weeks. My routine may not work for you but i hope that it will help you come up with one that works for you.

On a particular wash day this is what i do:
  1. Spray my hair with water lightly
  2. separate hair into smaller sections.
  3. add conditioner to each section, detangle and loosely twist. Do the same to the rest of the hair
  4. after detangling i add my deep conditioner (DC).
  5. put plastic cap on and a head sock and let it sit for an hour or so.
  6. rinse the DC
  7. remove excess water using an old t-shirt.
  8. apply leave-in conditioner/coconut oil.
  9. seal with shea butter.
  10. braid/twist hair
  11. air dry
  12. style.
Well that is mainly all i do every wash day. Once a month i use shampoo or whenever i feel i have product build-up.
The DC i use depends on how my hair is feeling or what my hair needs. On a normal wash day i use a moisturising DC (tresseme naturals + oils) and sometimes i use a protein conditioner (eg hair mayonnaise) depending on how my hair feels.

I hope that was helpful. Thanks for stopping by.

MY 2ND HHJ NAPPYVERSARY.

Its been 2years since the start of my healthy hair journey (HHJ) Whoop whoop!!!! Time really does fly.

I started my journey in Feb 2013 and Feb 2015  marked 2years of my natural hair journey. I can assure you my hair has transformed. *sorry the post is a bit late*

The past two years have been eye-opening for me, i have learnt more about hair care than I have ever learnt in my  20-something years on earth.

I have enjoyed my hair journey and I don’t regret it at all. It’s the best thing that has happened to my hair and I have never been more confident to wear my own hair.

I have pictures for you to see the progress. I am happy with how much my has grown so far. I love it.
If you are starting out on your hair journey, do your research, be patient and be consistent with your hair care routine and I promise you your hair will grow.Oh Yes baby black hair can grow.

Thanks for stopping by, all the best in your hair journey..

MY 2014 HAIR AFFAIR.

2014 was a great year for me, not in terms of retention or anything like that because i am yet to do a length check. I know my hair has grown but that is not what i want to talk about regarding 2014. 2014 was a great year for my hair journey because i had a chance to experiment with so many hair styles. I managed to capture some on camera, unfortunately it is not every single hair style that i captured.
I wore everything from twist-outs to braid-outs to bantu knot-outs, i wore updo's, RTP's, puffs, buns etc. I wore it all and i had so much fun with my hair.
2014 also happened to be my 2nd year without hair extensions and so from January to December i rocked my own hair and i liked it.
I made a few collages of the different hair styles:

UPDO's

HEADWRAPS

REVIEWING 2014 HAIR GOALS

Hello...

How is everyone doing in 2015? Are your 2015 hair resolutions already in place? I have not yet come up with mine but i will share them with you soon.
Before i go ahead and make resolutions for this year, i thought i should start by reviewing the goals i made in 2014.

2014 GOAL #1:Wash hair less, that is from once a week to once every two weeks. I can be very impatient sometimes, especially when it comes to detangling my hair. I noticed that I experience some breakage on wash days and so I just want to minimise on that.

Review: I failed to stick to this goal simply because my hair gets very dry, and waiting for 2 weeks between washes just was not working for me. I washed my hair once every week unless otherwise. To minimize breakage i worked on being gentle and patient during detangling sessions.

2014 GOAL #2 : Increase the number of times I do protein treatments. I did not do much of these in 2013.

Review: *sigh* this one was a 100% fail. I do not know what is wrong with me, i know i need to do this but i don't know why i don't do it.

2014 GOAL #3: ACV is a must now, to combat breakage from hard water.

Review: 100% fail. I don't even remember the last time i stocked apple-cider vinegar.

2014 GOAL#4: .  Wear more protective styles. Instead of keeping my twists in for a week only, I want to try keeping them in for 2 weeks.

Review: I realized that i am just not the 'long term protective styling' kind of girl. I cant wear twists for a long time, infact i did not wear twists for most of 2014. I wore my hair in braid outs, twist outs and roll-tuck-and-pin.(RTP). My hair was mostly out and i enjoyed it that way.

2014 GOAL #5:   Moisturise and seal my ends more often.

Review: This i did religiously. I am proud!!!! *happy face*.

Overall i did not stick to my 2014 resolutions and honestly i was not realistic about certain goals eg goal #4. I have never liked long term protective styles since i started my hair journey, i was just in denial really and i thought it was a must do in order to retain length. That is not entirely true.

This is my review. Have you reviewed your 2014 goals? Did you stick to your resolutions? Share your experience with me by commenting below.

xoxo.
