TRACTION ALOPECIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Traction alopecia is the gradual loss of hair resulting from excessive  pulling or excessive tension on the roots of hair for a prolonged period of time. It is most common in black women.

Cause

Wearing tight ponytails, braids or weaves for a long time.
If you have a history of wearing weaves for years like me, then you know what am talking about.

Treatment

Treatment  is not pharmaceutical, its mainly the cessation of chronic traction before the damage becomes severe or permanent. Treatment is only successful if the cause is recognised early and the styling practice discontinued.  In some countries, surgery or rather hair transplant is done to treat the hair loss.

Habits that stimulate hair growth.

  • Eating foods that are rich in protein ,zinc, biotin, vitamin E and omega 3.
  •  What you apply on your hair and scalp can greatly impact the progress of recovering from traction alopecia. Massaging the affected areas with oils that stimulate blood circulation such as rosemary oil and Jamaican black castor oil (JBCO) really help stimulate growth.

Where to find the oils:
JBCO – Sparkles salon, crossroads mall, Lusaka.
Rosemary oil:  shoprite
